When we by faith accept God's free gift of grace. I think Jesus answers this in His wilderness temptation when He said to Satan: Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Well how? How can we eat and drink the body and blood of Jesus? How is it that He can become our bread of life? Whoever feeds on Me will live because of Me. It is amazing isn't it that we will pay tribute to a baby in a manger at Christmastime, but are unwilling for that Christ-child to grow up to be the Lord and King of our lives daily.įolk. So mad that they at times became violent with Him. I gotta tell you that when Jesus verbalized these I AM'S, it frequently made the Jews mad. There are so many things that are unique to the Gospel of John – Things not found in the synoptic gospels some of which are. They are not really names as much as descriptive terms speaking of what Jesus is to us. We're talking about those self-portraits that Jesus paints here in the Book of John.
